Principal for a Day: Ryan and Sofia Step into Leadership

Principal Ryan, 3rd grade, and Principal Sofia, Kindergarten, were dressed for success and ready to take charge at Mandalay Elementary School. These two remarkable students stepped into their leadership roles with enthusiasm, confidence and a willingness to jump right in.
Armed with their walkie-talkies, the student principals began the day by greeting students as they arrived at school. They then helped bring Friday trivia to life by making announcements and distributing prizes, kicked off the school assembly and selected this week’s R.I.S.E. Up Shout-Outs to recognize students who exemplified the school’s values.
Their busy day didn’t stop there. Ryan and Sofia also visited classrooms and joined the principal for a teacher observation, gaining a firsthand look at the many responsibilities that come with leading a school.
While both students were certainly ready for their principal takeover, the experience was about much more than stepping into a leadership role. Their enthusiasm, kindness and eagerness to participate made a lasting impression on the staff members who had the opportunity to spend time with them.
