Universal Pre-Kindergarten

Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program

The Wantagh School District has received a grant to operate a Universal Pre-Kindergarten program for students residing within the school district for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. The program will continue to be offered as long as grant funds are available.

This program is being offered through a partnership with SCOPE Education Services in each district elementary school. It is a full day, five-hour program that will be available to all students meeting the age requirements.

Age Requirements: 

For the upcoming 2025-2026 school year children are eligible for UPK if they will be 4 years
old ON or before December 1, 2025.

This means that your child's birthday MUST be between
December 2, 2020 and December 1, 2021.
** Please note that December 2, 2020, and December 1, 2021, birthdates are included.
 

Parents must register their child for the random lottery in order to be considered for a UPK placement.

Lottery Information & Key Dates

If you are interested in having your child be considered for this free program, you must register for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten lottery by January 24, 2025.

  • Please access the registration link below under “Lottery Registration”
  • If you have more than one eligible child, you MUST submit a separate registration for each child. 
  • Please note that upon submission of the Universal Pre-K Lottery Registration Form you will receive an email copy of your response. This is your proof that your registration was successful.  
  • If you do not receive a confirmation email, you are not registered for the lottery. Please submit a new registration. 

 

January 24, 2025 – Deadline to register for UPK lottery

Week of January 27, 2025  – Emails will be distributed with a preassigned lottery number to each registrant. 

January 31, 2025 – Lottery drawing will be held. Results will be posted on this website upon completion of the drawing. 

Week of February 3, 2025 – Official emails confirming lottery selection will be sent.

February 28, 2025 – Due date for placement decisions on initial placement offers.

Week of March 3, 2025 – Registration emails will be sent to all families who accepted their placement.

March 21, 2025 – UPK district registration deadline.

    Results posted above are for planning purposes only. Actual placement in the UPK program is not official until confirmed via email by the District. 

     

    Families will be notified via email the week of February 3, 2025 if their child is selected and where they have been placed.

    2025-2026 waitlist information will be updated here after the intital lottery drawing and after all initial placements have been confirmed.
