"Health is a state of body.  Wellness is a state of being.” – J. Stanford

The Health education curriculum exposes our students to key concepts on how to properly maintain and promote a healthy lifestyle in a continually changing environment. Throughout the curriculum, there is a premise of developing positive behaviors while cultivating more productive members of society. In addition, emphasis is given to eliminating behaviors that negatively affect a healthy lifestyle and place an individual or individuals at risk. The instructional units are organized into major relevant groupings that allow the teacher to build a strong foundation while explaining and challenging the students with new information and problems to solve.

Physical Education is an integral part of the total education experience, which contributes to the development of our students through physical activity.  Our program is a foundation of sequential learning experiences that are geared to the developmental needs of each student. The Physical Education Department seeks to develop skills, confidence, a positive sense of self-esteem, appreciation of one's own skill level, body awareness, and cooperative effort through participation in a variety of movement experiences in a healthy, competitive, and enjoyable environment.
