Forest Lake PTA Gives Cafeteria a Spirited Refresh

When Forest Lake Elementary School students returned to school in September, they were greeted by a transformed cafeteria. Thanks to a $35,000 donation from the Forest Lake PTA, the room was revamped to bring more local connection to the space.
The lower wood walls were painted a dark gray with paw print decals, the upper section is a sky blue, and the walls around the Kindness Café (serving line entrance) and Bear Boutique (school store) are teal.
It is the top section that featured the biggest transformation, with vibrant imagery of Forester, the school mascot, and his bear friends. There are also birds, clouds, trees and a lake. The school’s slogan, “Forest Lake is a Feeling,” is painted below the windows. Other inspirational sayings such as “Be the leader you would follow” and “Always be kind” remind students to embody good character.
The project was funded through the PTA’s various fundraising efforts and the work took place in late August, ensuring it would be ready to wow students on the first day of school.
