Forest Lake Fifth Graders Unlock the Future

“Future Unlocked: Level 5 Complete” was the theme for Forest Lake Elementary School’s moving-up ceremony on June 24, which recognized 54 fifth graders for their hard work and achievements.
Students marched in to “Pomp and Circumstance,” and later gathered on the risers to sing the Natasha Bedingfield song, “Unwritten.” Avery Griffin, Gavin Nupp and Benjamin Smith each came to the podium to share their Forest Lake memories.
Principal Thomas Burke, in his address to students, used quotes from the movies “Star Wars,” “Toy Story” and “Wizard of Oz” as inspiration for the life lessons he imparted. He reminded the future middle schoolers that they have the ability to overcome any challenge and they can always rely on the strong foundation they got at Forest Lake.
Students found a gift under their chairs from Mr. Burke. Each graduate took home a small mirror so they will always remember who they are. He then announced the names of each student as teachers Amanda Mooney, Christopher Pedota, Nicole Silvar and Katina Sullivan handed out promotion certificates.
