Twilight Academy Class of 2026 Hosts Intimate Graduation

The Twilight Academy at Wantagh High School celebrated two new graduates on June 8 in front of family, friends, and various members of the Board of Education, administration and school community.
The Twilight Academy is a unique and meaningful partnership between Nassau BOCES and the Wantagh School District that provides students with an alternative pathway to earning their high school diploma. The program offers individualized support, smaller learning environments, and dedicated educators who help students overcome challenges and achieve their goals. For many students, the program represents a second chance, proving that success can be reached through perseverance, determination, and the support of a caring community.
Following remarks from teachers Mr. McCarthy and Mrs. Beckler, each graduate proudly received their diploma as family members and supporters celebrated the milestone with smiles, applause, and a few tears of joy.
The graduation address was given by BOCES Administrator Dr. McLaurin and Mr. Moran, Wantagh Twilight Academy Principal. Mr. Moran told students that their presence is a testament to their incredible resilience, unwavering determination, and spirit.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Bennett congratulated the graduates on reaching this important milestone and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities ahead. Dr. McLaurin reminded students that they will always remain part of the Twilight Academy family and reflected on the challenges they have overcome, noting that “sometimes the struggle makes things sweeter because you know what you’ve been through.”
