Grant Awards 2nd Grade Class with a Quieter Classroom
One second grade class at Wantagh Elementary just got a little quieter. We are thrilled to announce that Joanna Baker, a dedicated and inspiring 2nd grade teacher, has been selected as the recipient of a $200 grant from Jovia Financial Credit Union.
Ms. Baker applied for this grant with a clear and thoughtful vision for improving her classroom environment and supporting her students’ learning.
Ms. Baker is using the grant to implement a classroom improvement initiative focused on durability, safety, and noise reduction. By repurposing tennis balls as chair leg protectors—a simple, low‑cost, and sustainable solution—she is protecting classroom floors, extending the lifespan of school furniture, and creating a quieter, more focused learning environment.
A quiet, accessible, and well‑equipped classroom benefits every student. Through this grant, Ms. Baker is making a small investment with a meaningful return—improved learning conditions, reduced distractions, and a more inclusive environment where all students can thrive.
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Baker on this well‑deserved award. We are incredibly proud of her dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to student success. Congratulations, Ms. Baker!
