Middle School Drama Club Brings Big Dreams to Life in Musical
The magic of Disney will fill the theater as the Wantagh Middle School Drama Club will perform “Dare to Dream Junior” on March 13 and 14. The musical revue features songs from “Aladdin,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Coco,” “Encanto,” “Frozen,” “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Toy Story,” “Zootopia” and more.
Director Kristin Fragola said that this musical was recently released for school productions and selected it for this year’s show because of its great music and dance numbers. The story follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio, who set out to discover their dreams and learn that anything is possible. The musical numbers draw from a century of Disney films.
Eighth graders Lucas Iacono and Diana Goncalves are Players 1 and 2, who lead the Disney trainees in the workshop. Other eighth graders with prominent roles include Rosalie Della Croce, Angelina Frisch, Joseph Leone, Sophia McManamon and Lia Petrillo.
“It takes all of our childhood songs and puts them together into a musical,” Lucas said. “It’s very nostalgic.”
There are 53 cast members in the show under the direction of Ms. Fragola, production director Dr. Kimberly Davis and vocal director Sameerah Cassidy. The stage crew is led by technical director Jack Schiefer.
“The audience will love the music, as these are well-known songs,” Ms. Fragola said. “It’s been a pleasure working with a talented cast and crew.”

“Dare to Dream” show times are Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Wantagh High School auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adult and $12 for students and senior citizens, and available at seatyourself.biz/wantaghms. There will also be a sensory friendly show for special education students on March 12.
