The Big 10: Wantagh Celebrates College-Bound Athletes
The accomplished athletic careers of 10 Wantagh High School seniors have earned them spots on collegiate teams next year. They were honored at a letter of intent signing ceremony on Nov. 17, joined by their families, administrators, coaches and guidance counselors.
“We recognize 10 outstanding student-athletes whose hard work, perseverance and passion have led them to this moment,” said Jennifer Keane, director of physical education, health and athletics. “We cannot wait to see all that they accomplish at the collegiate level.”
She added that the athletes have balanced academics, training and competition with remarkable dedication, and represented their school with integrity and heart.
Principal Dr. Paul Guzzone noted that they have made sacrifices in their pursuit of excellence, and that commitment is what earned them a seat at the table to sign their letters of intent. He said they will now embark on a journey filled with self-discovery, personal growth and the development of skills that will position them for lifelong success.
The college-bound athletes, who were introduced by Assistant Principal Dr. Christopher Widmann, are:
Baseball: Ryan Tullo, Lynn University.
Boys Lacrosse: Matthew Giacabello, St. Anselm College; Carter Loughman, University of Albany; Joseph Nicholson and Devin Paccione, Villanova University; and Gianni Passaro, Mount St. Mary’s University.
Girls Lacrosse: Sabrina Asadurian, Stony Brook University; Mia Dankenbrink, Siena College; Madeline Drago, University of Maryland; and Madeline Gonzalez, Iona University.
