Mandalay’s 5th Grade Graduates Share Special Final Moments Together

One by one, Mandalay’s 5th grade class of 2026 took their final walk across the stage signaling the official end of elementary school before heading to middle school in the fall.
The Pledge of Allegiance and The Star Spangled Banner was led by Gina Squier followed by brief remarks by Principal Marie Pisicchio.
“Graduation marks the beginning of countless possibilities,” said Mrs. Pisicchio. “I want you to reflect on the “Chair Theory” which someone shared with me. If you walk into the room and there aren’t enough chairs for everyone, watch what people do. Some people will pull up a chair for you. Some will offer you their chair. Some will help make space for you. While some will make space for you, others will watch you stand while they sit comfortably. That’s when you learn everything about who to surround yourself with.” In summary, pay attention to the ones who pull up chairs for you.
The presentation of certificates was facilitated by 5th grade teachers Mrs. Montario and Mrs. Giangrande who called each student’s name giving families time to capture the special moment.
Special award winners were announced in the following categories: The 2026 John F. Kennedy Award recipients were Clarice Kubis, Nicholas Neve, Dominic Pignataro, and Cali Torres. The recipient of the Officer Mike Award was Giana Squier, and the Principals Award Recipients were Raffaele Tretter and Charlotte Esposito.
The ceremony concluded with the students singing “Try Everything” directed by music and band teacher Mr. Annunziata followed by a reception courtesy of the Mandalay PTA.
