Neurodiversity Week Celebrated Across District with Themed Days of Acceptance & Understanding
Students across the district came together in meaningful and colorful ways to celebrate Neurodiversity Week, promoting awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for all learners.
At Wantagh Middle school, Ms. Desson and Ms. Toscano’s students took over the morning announcements, using their voices to highlight the importance of understanding and embracing differences. At Wantagh Elementary School, the halls were filled with shades of blue as students and staff showed their support through coordinated colors.
Wantagh High School’s Life Skills class took the lead in running the school store during 7th period, giving students an opportunity to showcase their independence, teamwork, and real-world skills.
Meanwhile, Forest Lake students kept the celebration going all week long with a variety of themed days for Neurodiversity Week, encouraging participation though hairstyles, blue, and rainbow clothing on different days, and sparking conversations about neurodiversity in fun and engaging ways.
Mandalay students wore red to honor the strength and passion of autistic self-advocates, and gold to represent hope, optimism, and the potential of autistic people.
Together, these activities helped foster a sense of unity and respect, reminding everyone that our differences are what make our community stronger.
