Wantagh Students Welcomed Back to the Classroom

As students stepped off of the iconic yellow school buses and out of family automobiles, they were welcomed back to school on Sept. 8 by District Board of Education trustees, administration, faculty and staff for the commencement of the 2020-2021 school year. Instead of the usual congregation synonymous with the first day of school, students were ushered toward temperature check stations, while wearing masks and practicing social distancing, and then to their assigned classrooms where teachers welcomed them back to school.

Superintendent of Schools John C. McNamara reported the start of the school year went well and students and faculty were prepared to meet the challenges of the year ahead.
“Even though the return to the classroom is different, the administration, faculty and staff have worked diligently over the past several months to provide a safe environment and balance the social and emotional needs of our students with the academic programs we will
offer during the course of  the school year,” Mr. McNamara said. “I am confident that 2020-2021 will be a productive and positive school year for all Wantagh students.”
