Wantagh High School Welcomes the Class of 2024

Wantagh High School officially opened its doors on Aug. 31 to the incoming freshmen class, who attended a socially distanced orientation program. Careful to follow COVID-19 health precautions, the students were divided into two cohorts and again separated into small groups for informative sessions that slightly resembled past orientations. New principal Dr. Paul Guzzone, assistant principal Nick Pappas and Director of Guidance Frank Muzio, as well as guidance counselors, welcomed the students and provided them with a tour of the building and information on academic expectations, conduct and guidance goals.

“This is a very happy moment, a time when you take the next step in your academic careers and prepare for your futures,” Dr. Guzzone said.

Mr. Pappas reassured the students that they are ready for high school. “You were prepared for the academic rigor of high school by your middle school teachers and advisors,” he said. “The advisors’ doors are always open.”

Government Organization Co-Presidents Chris Murale and Melanie Volz and representative Michael Minar also took time to speak with the students about their personal experiences and school culture. They also recommended that the students explore the ample clubs and sports teams available to them in the coming four years.
