High school students enrolled in Peter Kravitz’s Journalism I and II classes were among 300 students who attended Hofstra University’s annual Press Day in December.
During the conference, the students heard panel discussions on how social media has impacted journalism and took a behind-the-scenes look at how Hofstra University organized its televised coverage of the 2018 election. The students attended workshops on navigating social media, photo journalism, investigative reporting and sports journalism.
Mr. Kravitz noted that Press Day was not only engaging, but an excellent opportunity for the journalism students to improve their skills and to witness firsthand the issues professional journalists face.
Through a commitment to educational excellence in a secure, supportive environment, the Wantagh Public Schools shall inspire students to develop a strong sense of individual worth and respect for others, to become lifelong learners and independent thinkers, and to fulfill themselves as concerned citizens in a diverse world.
