Forest Lake fifth-grade student-scientists proudly displayed their research on natural disasters with peers and family during the second annual science fair held on Feb. 9. The projects showcased detailed information on avalanches, typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes and more, and was the culmination of a science unit on weather.

The students were instructed to use three or more sources in their study and research of a natural disaster. The projects included diagrams, photos, graphs, charts and historical examples to complete a trifold, 3-D model or experiment. In addition, select students were chosen to demonstrate their research to engage visitors and peers in the scientific process.
