During the annual Crossing-Over Ceremony, Wantagh Middle School faculty and parents joined in celebrating the advancement of 243 eighth-grade students, who will meet more rigorous challenges upon entrance into the high school this fall.

After student T.J. Cerasi led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, Principal Dawn Matrochano stated that the ceremony was a “time of reflection” and an opportunity to thank parents for their support. To the students, she noted that crossing over denotes a new stage of academic challenges. She also urged, “Don’t be in too big of a hurry to grow up.”

Graduates Dylan Reich, Nicole Frascatore and Amanda Ciaramella reflected on the events and activities that occurred during grades 6-8, while Austin Henglein shared his beliefs that high school will be a time of new opportunity.

After the celebratory speeches concluded, Assistant Principal Dr. Stephanie Scolieri called the names of the students one-by-one to the podium to receive a certificate of completion, handed out by members of the board of education and administration.

After the ceremony, the graduates attended a dance in the middle school auditorium.
