WANTAGH ELEMENTARY STUDENTS EXPLORE AREAS OF INTEREST

Wantagh Elementary students are taking the opportunity to explore areas of interest beyond their core academic subjects.

Implemented this school year, students are learning about a variety of subjects through enrichment clusters. This eight-week class setting allows students to choose a topic of interest or to try a skill not offered in a regular class setting. Every third school day, enrichment clusters teach skills such as playing the ukulele, making a rain gage and studying weather and making recipes with nutritious foods. Taught by Wantagh Elementary School faculty, the clusters rotate through each of the grades throughout the school year.

“This is a great opportunity for students to learn about a topic of interest or to try something new,” Principal Dr. Randee Bonagura explained. “The students have been very enthusiastic and we plan on continuing this successful program.”
