Wantagh High School College Accounting class students were able to put their accounting skills into real-life perspective during a field trip to one of the nation’s largest accounting firms, Ernst & Young in New York City’s Times Square.
The company hosted “A Day in the Life of an Accountant,” where the students were led on a tour of the offices and connected with various employees and interns to learn about pathways to a career, college majors and different sectors of accounting in which to specialize. They also learned about special internship seminars and company retreats as well as the clients Ernst & Young service. The hosts also provided lunch and offered contact information.
In addition to the planned activities, teacher Christine Compagnino and the students met two past accounting students employed by Ernst & Young.
“You can imagine how it felt seeing what confident, brilliant leaders they have become,” Ms. Compagnino said.
Through a commitment to educational excellence in a secure, supportive environment, the Wantagh Public Schools shall inspire students to develop a strong sense of individual worth and respect for others, to become lifelong learners and independent thinkers, and to fulfill themselves as concerned citizens in a diverse world.
