During the Oct. 17 public meeting of the board of education, members of the PTA organizations honored the trustees for their dedicated service to the district and the community.
Board Recognition Week is an annual celebration sponsored by the New York State School Boards Association, which honors the trustees’ commitment to public education.
The board received the donation of a brick at the future James Lodato Field of Dreams, to be located at Forest Lake Elementary School. They also received baskets of goodies and Wantagh wear to thank them for their volunteer service to the community.
Superintendent of Schools John McNamara explained that Board Recognition Week raises awareness and understanding of the board’s important role in the betterment of students and their community. “It takes a strong board to build a strong community,” he said.
Through a commitment to educational excellence in a secure, supportive environment, the Wantagh Public Schools shall inspire students to develop a strong sense of individual worth and respect for others, to become lifelong learners and independent thinkers, and to fulfill themselves as concerned citizens in a diverse world.
