Bright yellow buses and a cool fall morning were the backdrop for a successful school opening. Students at all of the district’s schools toted their backpacks full of school supplies and entered the buildings with smiles on their faces as they greeted teachers to start the 2019-2020 school year on Sept. 3.
Members of the board of education, Superintendent of Schools John McNamara, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Dr. Marc Ferris and Assistant Superintendent for Business Anthony Clements joined the principals in welcoming students at the door and to give a hand with helping younger students off the bus.
Mr. McNamara said he was pleased with the district’s smooth opening. “The faculty and students were enthusiastic about the new school year and instruction began immediately,” he said. “I am confident that 2019-2020 will be a productive and positive school year for all Wantagh students.”
Through a commitment to educational excellence in a secure, supportive environment, the Wantagh Public Schools shall inspire students to develop a strong sense of individual worth and respect for others, to become lifelong learners and independent thinkers, and to fulfill themselves as concerned citizens in a diverse world.
