The varsity girls volleyball was officially congratulated for their New York State Class A Championship title by the board of education and central administration during the Dec. 13 public meeting.
The female athletes had a tremendous season, having garnered the Nassau County Class A and Long Island Class A championships prior to winning the state competition at Glenn Falls, New York prior to Thanksgiving.
Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics and Drivers Education Jennifer Keane presented each of the student-athletes individually to the community to the cheers of the audience. “These athletes came together as a team, and really worked hard,” Keane said.
Superintendent of Schools John C. McNamara also congratulated the team. “There were many heart-stopping moments along the way,” he said. “The district is so proud of what you have accomplished this year.”
