Wantagh Elementary School kindergarten students rang in the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 15 with a vocal performance for parents and staff. Dressed as pilgrims, the students sang “Over the River and Through the Woods,” “The Turkey Ran Away,” “Turkey Dinner” and “I Ate Too Much” to the delight of the audience.
In the week preceding the activity, the students have been learning about the Native Americans, pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. The costumes were worn to symbolize the elements of the lesson.
Through a commitment to educational excellence in a secure, supportive environment, the Wantagh Public Schools shall inspire students to develop a strong sense of individual worth and respect for others, to become lifelong learners and independent thinkers, and to fulfill themselves as concerned citizens in a diverse world.
