WELCOMING NEW ADMINISTRATORS
The District has filled two administrative positions with talented faculty, effective Nov. 5.
Nick Pappas, a Manhasset resident, will now serve as assistant principal at Wantagh High School. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Pappas served as district mentor for probationary teachers in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, where he led teacher workshops in lesson plan design, data analysis, questioning techniques, the use of formative assessments and mindfulness practices. Since 2004, he has taught Advanced Placement biology, advanced science research and science-related courses at Sanford H. Calhoun High School. Mr. Pappas holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston College’s Honors Program in the College of Arts and Sciences, a master’s degree in science education from New York University and School Building Leader and School District Leader advanced certification from The College of Saint Rose.
Julie Beth Rosslee, a Dix Hills resident, now serves as secondary director of English Language Arts, Reading and Libraries. She recently taught English at Sanford H. Calhoun High School in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. Ms. Rosslee holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Economics from Binghamton University, a master’s degree in the Teaching of English from Columbia University’s Teachers College and certificates of advanced study in School District Leadership and School Building Leadership.
The district welcomes both Mr. Pappas and Ms. Rosslee to their new positions and much success in the school year.
