MEET THE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
Residents who attend the Board of Education’s monthly meetings will learn firsthand about high school happenings through reports delivered by student representatives Katie Browne and Melanie Volz.
Elected as co-presidents of the school’s GO (government organization), the representatives will serve as liaisons between the board and the school, relaying updated information about the high school’s academic successes, athletic competitions and other interesting and important news. In addition, Katie and Melanie will relay information to the GO about district issues discussed during board meetings.
Both Katie and Melanie are deeply involved in school clubs and organizations.
As a senior, Katie is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the world language, national science and Tri-M music honor societies. She is also a member of the Literary Society and Key Club, as well as a member of the varsity soccer and badminton teams. Her plans are to pursue a career in physical therapy upon graduation.
Melanie is a sophomore and a treasurer of the Class of 2021. She is a member of Mathletes and Science Olympiad, Key Club and the Gay-Straight Alliance. An avid musician, Melanie plays the clarinet with the school’s wind ensemble and is a member of the Tri-M music honor society.
The district congratulates Katie and Melanie on this outstanding accomplishment and much success in their positions.
