During the Oct. 20 public meeting of the Board of Education, students, staff, and members of the PTA and supporting district organizations honored the Board trustees for their voluntary service to the district and community. The recognition was part of the New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week, an annual celebration that serves as an opportunity to raise awareness and understanding about the essential role school board members have within a school district.
Superintendent of Schools Maureen Goldberg explained that Board Recognition Night “celebrates the trustees’ leadership roles” and is a way to thank them for their “ongoing commitment to education and the students of Wantagh.”
Board President Anthony Greco thanked the community and students for their support. “We serve for the love of the school district and its fine students,” he said.
