    Probationary Teachers

    Special Education Teacher

    The Wantagh School District is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Elementary Self-Contained program. 
    The desired candidate will possess the following:

    • Strong background in reading instruction including an ability to utilize:
    • Multi-sensory approaches
    • Reading/Writing Workshop model
    • Fundations
      • Wilson or OG certification preferred
    • Flexible and adaptable approach to behavior management
    • Experience participating in CSE and utilization of IEP Direct
    • Ability to facilitate positive relationships with parents and stakeholders
    • Understanding of least restrictive rights and how to move students towards independence
    • Must hold valid NYS certification

    Physical Education Teacher

    Library Media Specialist

    The Wantagh School District is seeking an exceptional candidate with a passion for teaching and learning for the position of Library Media Specialist located in our High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • developing a community of literate learners who will use the library as an invaluable tool in their pursuit of academic, occupational, and personal success
    • providing tailored, hands-on instruction to classes, grade levels, department personnel, and individual students and staff members
    • enhancing and facilitating the learning process by seeking out, acquiring, and promoting the most pertinent and up-to-date resources (print, electronic, audiovisual) to students, faculty, and other community members
    • determining and administering the library’s budget
    • organizing and publicizing all library materials and services such that they are readily available and easily accessible to all patrons

    Qualifications:

    • Must have proper NYS certification

    AIS Reading Teacher

    Wantagh UFSD is seeking an outstanding probationary AIS Reading Teacher to work with our K-5 population. We're looking for a passionate teacher who will demonstrate the following:

    • Work collaboratively in a team setting to support all students
    • Become part of a professional learning community to incorporate many facets of a successful literacy curriculum
    • Proficiency with LLI, Just Words, and Fundations
    • The ability to conduct Fountas and Pinnell Benchmarking and utilize results for future instruction
    • Collaborate frequently with classroom teachers and families on matters relating to reading intervention instruction
    • Serve as a team member for active progress monitoring of elementary students; participate in ongoing conversations regarding appropriate placement and intervention methods

    Qualifications:

    • Must have NYS Reading/Literacy certification
    • Wilson Certification
    • 2-5 years prior experience preferred

    Part-time Teacher

    STEAM Teacher
    Part-time (.50)

    Wantagh UFSD is seeking an outstanding part-time Elementary STEAM Teacher (.5) to work with our K-5 students.

    We are seeking a passionate educator who:

    • demonstrates the ability to create, develop, plan, model, and deliver rich student-centered learning experiences around all facets of STEAM.
    • fosters students love of learning and exploration.
    • works in partnership with teachers and staff members to provide engaging STEAM lessons and models with effective use of technology and other STEAM and online tools.
    • identifies, applies, and integrates educational and technology-related research and programs into lessons.
    • Must have NYS Teacher Certification

    Long Term Substitutes

    Physics Teacher

    The Wantagh School district is seeking a Long Term Substitute teaching Physics in our High School for September.
    Expectations for this candidate include:

    • demonstrate proficiency using online learning platforms.
    • knowledge and experience practicing differentiated instruction at all levels of academic ability.
    • ability to provide a learning environment that supports the social emotional well-being of all students, while challenging them to work to the best of their ability.
    • NYS Science Certification – Physics Grades 7-12.

    Per Diem Substitutes

    The Wantagh School District holds our substitutes in high accord. We are currently accepting applications for per diem TEACHER substitutes in the 2019-20 school year.

    • Must have NYS TEACHER certification to be considered.
    • Interviews will be on-going.

    Per diem rate: 
         days 1-20       $90/day
         days 21-40     $100/day
         days 41+        $110/day
