  • CROSSING OVER TO NEW ACADEMIC CHALLENGES

    Wantagh Middle School faculty and parents joined in celebrating the advancement of 229 eighth grade students, who will meet more rigorous academic challenges upon entrance into high school, during the annual Crossing-Over Ceremony held on June 7 at the high school.

  • NANCY O’CONNOR NAMED BUSINESS EDUCATION TEACHER OF THE YEAR

    The District is proud to announce that the Long Island Business Teachers Association has named middle and high school business teacher Nancy O’Connor as the Business Education Teacher of the Year. Ms. O’Connor was recognized during the annual awards ceremony attended by more than 150 Long Island teachers and students, held at the Wind Watch and Golf Country Club in Hauppauge on May 22.

  • PATRIOTIC PENMANSHIP

    It was a day of patriotism for Wantagh Middle School students who were winners in the annual Memorial Day Writing Contest, sponsored by American Legion Post 1273. During the contest, students were required to write an essay that completes the thought, “This Memorial Day, it is more important now than ever to…” The winners were invited to march in the annual community Memorial Day parade and were then recognized at the American Legion Post for their winning essays.

  • WANTAGH MS RECOGNIZED AS A ‘NO PLACE FOR HATE’ SCHOOL

    For the second consecutive year, the Anti-Defamation League has recognized Wantagh Middle School as one of the nation’s 1,600 No Place for Hate schools. This prestigious designation was accomplished through the sponsorship of activities that promote acceptance, tolerance and kindness on campus and by sending a clear message throughout the school that all students have a place to belong.

  • LEAD2FEED STUDENT CHALLENGE WINNERS DONATE FUNDS

    Wantagh Middle School’s Lead2Feed Student Challenge national grand prizewinners, EsSCENTial Melts, met with representatives of the Born This Way Foundation to donate a $10,000 check to the organization which works to enhance the mental health awareness of young people and to assist in building a kinder and braver world.

  • WINNING NOTECARD DESIGN

    Arielle Combs, an eighth-grade student at the middle school, was a Top 10 Award winner for her contest entry to the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Long Island Chapter Design-A-Card Contest. Her design will be made into notecards to raise scholarship money for the Long Island Chapter 39 Scholarship Fund.

  • WANTAGH MS TAKES THE CEREBRAL PALSY TRIVIA CHALLENGE

    Wantagh Middle School’s community service club called Business and Education Serving Together participated in the 33rd annual Cerebral Palsy of Nassau County Trivia Challenge Championships on Feb. 26-27. Eighth-grade team members Sean Browne, Emma Caputo, Abigail Conway and Natasha Meagher finished in third place. Skylar Mondelli, Jacklynn LaMacchia, Bridget Toscano, and Cate Russo also represented the district on the sixth-grade level. The club raised and donated $600 to the organization.
