I am looking forward to a fantastic year teaching your child to enjoy, appreciate, and create art. We will look at and talk about major works/styles of art, as well as, create our own masterpieces using the elements and principles of design. We will study various artists, art styles and cultures from around the world.
About Mrs. Gallo: I love to teach. I simply cannot see myself doing anything else. Teaching fulfills my desire to constantly learn and grow and inspires me to continue to be the creative individual that I am. I also want my students and their parents to know that I practice what I preach. I received a BFA from the University of Texas in 2004 and a MFA from the University of Hartford in 2006. I still teach as a college art professor on the side. I started doing so in 2006. I have taught courses in Drawing, Painting, Design, Color Theory, Art Appreciation, and Art History.
I am also highly experienced in K-12 art education practices. Outside of the classroom I paint, draw, design jewelry, and eat and breathe art, whether or not I'm actively creating. I have had my work shown in various local galleries on Long Island, in NYC, as well as, in New England. My priority is, and continues to be, actively creating and producing work. My students benefit from this because I can offer them real world experience as a working studio artist.
It is my goal for my students to develop and deepen their critical sense of the arts, as it relates to everyday life.
I find my motivation in my students and the change I see in their confidence and abilities. I truly enjoy getting to know my students and the fact that I learn along with them. I hope they will have as much fun learning as I do teaching them!
