He comes to Wantagh from the Oceanside School District where he was the acting executive director of special education. Prior to that, Mr. Moran was Oceanside’s director of secondary special education for four and a half years. He worked in the Deer Park School District for 15 years as a special education teacher, high school assistant principal, middle school associate principal and administrator for special education K-12. His career began as a teaching assistant for Eastern Suffolk BOCES.

Mr. Moran holds a bachelor’s degree in history from SUNY Oswego, a master’s degree in special education from Dowling College and administrative certification from Stony Brook University. He is on the executive board for the Long Island Association of Special Education Administrators.

In Wantagh, Mr. Moran is looking to building a collaborative relationship with families, administration, teachers and staff to support students and ensure they are receiving the best possible education.

“Every child has the potential to learn,” he said, “and it’s up to us to make sure we find the right path for them.”
