Ready for Middle School’s Academic Challenges

Forest Lake, Mandalay and Wantagh elementary fifth grade students marked an important academic milestone as they attended individual moving-up ceremonies held outside and on the lawns of their respective schools. Each celebration was punctuated with musical interludes that added to the sentimental occasions.

Principals Dr. Jessica Zimmer, Marie Pisicchio and Dr. Randee Bonagura congratulated the students on this momentous academic accomplishment and assured them that they are well prepared for the challenges they will meet in middle school this fall. During her address to Wantagh Elementary School students, Dr. Bonagura said, “You have learned what it means to be good citizens,” and then encouraged the graduates to work hard, be humble about their accomplishments, have a positive attitude, to get involved, follow the Golden Rule and be willing to keep learning.

Upon conclusion of the ceremonies, the students joined their peers and family members, at which time they thanked their teachers and said goodbye to classmates until the fall.
