    Dear Wantagh Community.

This year we will begin the journey of implementing a new strategic plan for the district, Building Our Future Together. Building Our Future Together focuses on four key pillars to build our long-term planning around: Outstanding Student Achievement, Exceptional Learning Environments, Successful Resource Management, and Strong Connections. Each of these pillars looks at our long-term planning through a critical lens and broad goals have been created with specific strategies and measurable action plans to accomplish these goals. This fall, we put together action teams to review our plans and monitor progress toward our long-term goals.

This summer we tackled several construction projects across our secondary complex. Some of the major projects that took place included the replacement of the original middle school boilers, an electrical upgrade to our entire secondary complex, the installation of a new turf field and track at the high school, the complete renovation of four high school student bathrooms and the renovation of the middle school nurse’s office. In addition, the facilities department carried out several projects that included the relocation of our PPS Office to the administration wing of the middle school, moving our middle school Modern Foods’ Lab to a larger space and the creation of a conference room space at the middle school. Our typical maintenance and cleaning projects took place across the district as well.

I welcome all of our new staff members that are joining us across the district. We have several new members of our administrative team: Anthony Cedrone, Assistant Superintendent for Business, Carol Ann Winans, Secondary Director of Science and Technology, and Briana James, Assistant Principal at Wantagh Elementary School. Although they are not new to Wantagh, I also wish Anthony Ciuffo and Jessica Zimmer well in their new roles as Wantagh Middle School Principal and Forest Lake Principal, respectively.

I iwsh all of our students an outstanding school year!

    Regards,

    John McNamara
